Fabian Delph-Manchester City– Granted, he’s struggled mightily with injury since his move from Aston Villa, but he’s still only managed to play 29 minutes in three total appearances. No rational fans expected him to waltz into the City side and nail down a place immediately, but he’s just too talented to be buried on a Premier League bench.

You can’t possibly have watched him play and not think he’d fit perfectly into a number of top class Premier League sides. He could easily do a job for almost any club other than Manchester City. He’d certainly fill a role for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool or Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.

If he wants to simply stay at City long enough to hopefully be a small part of a title/trophy winning side I can understand that. He does so at the risk of his own personal career though. If he doesn’t find a way to break into a meaningful club role he can kiss his England career could by. What a shame that would be for a player who is squarely in the prime years of his career.

I’m always partial to players who prioritize playing over accolades and glory. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I’d respect Delph more if he agitated for a move that would allow him to play every week.
