Theo Walcott-Arsenal– I know he’s hurt right now but his career at Arsenal has been maddeningly inconsistent even when he has been healthy. He shows flashes of real quality but can never seem to sustain it. He’s more beloved by Arsenal fans for his antics to wind up Tottenham than any of his on-field performances.

It’s fair to question why Walcott would want to leave Arsenal now considering their lack of other alternatives at striker. The simple answer is that I can’t imagine Arsene Wenger standing pat in January and not bringing in a prominent attacking option. They have a chance to win the Premier League title and you can’t go for that with Olivier Giroud as your best striker.

Even if Walcott can get healthy, he’s going to face more competition than ever before to start-up top. Before he could always fall back onto an attacking position on the wing, but the presence of Alexis Sanchez makes that impossible as well.

If Walcott is serious about advancing his career and maximizing his potential he should look for another club. Somewhere he can play regularly and be depended on. He has to find somewhere that he is needed. Not somewhere like Arsenal where he’s a luxury player.
