Aston Villa-D-

I bet you’re wondering why I didn’t give the Premier League’s 20th place team an F considering the fact that they have enough talent to finish 12th. It’s because of my complete bias against Tim Sherwood. I applaud Villa’s management for making a significant upgrade at manager by hiring Remy Garde. They replaced a complete buffoon with a competent manager. This hasn’t helped them a great deal so far (although it did help get them a point against Manchester City) but it should pay dividends down the line.

Other than the upgrade at manager, there hasn’t been much to applaud Aston Villa for on the young season. Sadly, their brightest player through 12 matches, Jordan Amavi will miss the remainder of the season through injury as well. He helped them be average defensively, but their offense has been another matter altogether. It’s been an abject disaster. If Garde has any hope of keeping Villa up then he will have to breathe life into what’s been a moribund attack. That offensive impotence nets them a D-.
