Real Madrid Must Purchase Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
When your top striker is involved in a blackmail sex scandal and rumored to be friends with a prominent cocaine dealer it’s time to look for a replacement. This is just the situation Real Madrid finds itself in with Karim Benzema. The solution for Los Blancos is simple. They should purchase Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
Where there’s smoke there is fire. Real Madrid doesn’t know for certain whether or not Karim Benzema is involved in the Valbuena sex scandal or the infamous “Cocaine Air” controversy, but they shouldn’t be taking any chances. They are one of the world’s top football clubs and playing for them isn’t a right, it’s a privilege. It’s a privilege that Karim Benzema surely has lost.
Of course you can’t move on from Benzema without a credible replacement waiting in the wings. Real Madrid doesn’t have an heir apparent to Benzema on their current roster, but that doesn’t mean the solution isn’t out there.
The solution to the Real Madrid problem is Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. While he doesn’t gain the headlines that other top Premier League strikers garner, he’s been magnificent this season. He’s knocked in nine goals and tallied four assist in just thirteen games this season for the Toffees.

Even more impressively, yesterday he became the fourth youngest Premier League player in history to score 50 career goals. At just 23-years old, he’s already a proven commodity. Even more intriguingly, he’s trending in a starward direction.
That upward trajectory is what should be catching the eyes of the higher-ups at Real Madrid. While they need to replace Benzema because of his character and legal issues, his production on the field has been solid. He’s managed six goals in seven appearances on the season so it isn’t as if he’s been ineffective. They can’t afford to offload their problem child for someone who doesn’t have the talent to produce in his absence.
Lukaku could step in right away and replace Benzema’s current level of production. In the coming years, he might even be able to outperform the French star. Ironically, there are a great deal of similarities between the two on the pitch.
Both are hulking presences who can hold up play effectively for their attacks. What makes them both special is the pace and skill they have along with their size. Both have extraordinary finishing ability for strikers in general, much less strikers with their physiques. Lukaku has more pace than Benzema but both are quick for their size.
Lukaku would also be a perfect complement to Real Madrid’s substantial talent in the attacking midfield. With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale aiding him in attack the Belgian would find ample space to operate both in front of goal and on the wing. The idea of Lukaku lurking in the box to finish off crosses from CR7 is enough to give La Liga defender’s nightmares.
Romelu Lukaku is a uniquely talented striker that somehow gets overlooked by Premier League fans. He’s got an excellent record at Everton that proves he can play at any side in the world. Real Madrid should be in the market to replace the troubled Karim Benzema and they would do well to snap up Lukaku as his replacement.
