Andros Townsend-Tottenham

Townsend has tantalizing talent, but has found himself on the outs with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino. His recent banishment from the team over a row with the Tottenham fitness coach won’t endear him to many around the EPL, but someone will be willing to take a gamble on his substantial talent.

He’s got pace to burn and when he connects on a shot he can score goals in bunches. Unfortunately, he often resembles a Clydesdale on the pitch by running down the field with apparent blinders on. This can lead to terrific goals and it can also lead to horrific decisions that cause the crowd to groan in unison.

For Townsend to be successful he’s going to have to find the right fit. He will need a very patient manager and fan base that will be willing to watch him fail repeatedly before he catches fire. He needs that ultimate trust and freedom to move around the pitch without fear of negative repercussions.  The more he thinks on the pitch the worse it gets.

Still, the talent level is certainly there to be an above average Premier League player. He didn’t make the England squad by accident. Some mid-table team will make an offer big enough to relieve Spurs of their problem child. Only time will tell if he can figure things out in a new environment.
