Harry Kane-Tottenham

Call me a homer all you like, but I still would prefer to start my team with Harry Kane leading the line as opposed to Vardy. Kane does give up a great deal of pace to Vardy, but I think he is superior in every other aspect of football.

The key thing that makes Kane special is his fantastic work-rate. Even when he wasn’t scoring goals early in the year for Tottenham he still ran his boots off for the club and made a general nuisance of himself for opposing defenders. The pressure he puts on opposing defenders and keepers when they are trying to play the ball forward is a severely underrated talent of Kane’s.

Of course, his offense is pretty good too. He’s a clinical finisher of the ball and can knock in goals with his feet, head or frankly, any other part of his body. He isn’t only dangerous as a goal scorer though, he can also create opportunities through others by drawing defenders away from goal or playing other attackers in with a skillful pass. He’s the complete package as a striker.

Leicester fans will quarrel with this one I expect, but I prefer the striker who’s a no-doubt selection for England as opposed to the striker who’s struggled to find playing time under Roy Hodgson. Vardy does deserve inclusion in the England squad, but Kane starts up top for a reason.
