Liverpool fans are justifiably excited about Jurgen Klopp’s impact on the club but they won’t be winning a Premier League title this season

Liverpool fans would be well served to take a deep breath and relax. I understand why they are giddy after their 6-1 drubbing of Southampton in the League Cup, but those expecting Jurgen Klopp to bring a Premier League title this season to Anfield are set to be sorely disappointed.

It’s not Klopp’s fault that his squad doesn’t have what it takes to climb to the top of the Premier League mountain yet. He’s only been in charge for a few months. If anyone is to blame for the lack of cohesion and overall talent in the squad it is his predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.

Klopp is exceeding expectations so far, but we all know that going from bad to good is a lot easier task than going from good to great. The latter is the challenge that the German boss faces now. To win the Premier League he’s going to have to find a way to grind out results over the long haul. Liverpool was always up for an occasional good performance under Rodgers, its problem was handling their business over a longer stretch of time.

Once Klopp has a few transfer windows and an off-season under his belt he may very well have the ammunition he needs to challenge for the Premier League title. But as for now, here are five reasons that Liverpool won’t be lifting the trophy this season.
