Manchester United

I have serious doubts as to whether or not Chelsea would be willing to sell Hazard to United at any price, but we’ve certainly seen crazier things happen previously in the Premier League.

If Chelsea were to make its transfer decision based on financial considerations alone then Manchester United would have a great chance at the Belgian star. They have arguably the biggest cash reserves in the Premier League and their fan base is anxious for them to flex their financial might. It might not be enough to save manager Louis Van Gaal’s job, but adding Hazard could cover up a lot of the team’s deficiencies.

The club thought Memphis Depay would be the answer to provide width at Old Trafford, but things haven’t quite worked out. Juan Mata is playing out on the wing, but that isn’t providing the team’s other attackers the space and service they require either. A true winger who could stretch the field and provide end product would be just what the doctor ordered for United.

The only question is really whether or not Chelsea would risk selling Hazard to a Premier League rival. The thought of him coming back to haunt them multiple times a year might be too much for Chelsea ownership to handle. I can’t say as that I’d blame them for fearing Hazard’s reprisals either.
