5. Lazio

When your fans are leaving piles of feces at your gates to complain about your level of play, you know things aren’t going too well. That’s exactly the circumstances Lazio find themselves in at the moment.

They currently find themselves languishing in 12th place in Serie A which is not an acceptable position given they talent they have in their squad. This is a team whose roster is constructed such that it should be competing for Champions League qualification as opposed to avoiding the bottom of the table.

A manager like Mourinho could come in and lift the spirits of the players immediately. While they might be a little nervous about his arrival given the deterioration of his relationship with the Chelsea dressing room, we aren’t talking about a group of players with the same kind of egos here. There are a few big names on the squad, but Mourinho would be the biggest reputation at the club. That’s the situation where he’s most comfortable.

Lazio should be in search of a manager who can provide an immediate pay-off and that’s Mourinho’s specialty. He could come in, right the ship quickly, and serve as a short-term bridge to next manager of their choosing. He wouldn’t be in Serie A for a long time, but he’d be there for a good time.
