The French giants never seem entirely happy with manager Laurent Blanc. It always seems that they have at least one eye focused on other managerial targets. We repeatedly read stories where Blanc will face the sack if they lose this or that match. At some point, he’ll lose one of those matches and an ideal job will open up for Jose Mourinho.

The irony of PSG being Mourinho’s landing spot given their impending Champions League match-up is not lost on me. Part of me would love to see it happen really quickly just to allow Mourinho to coach against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The scenes in the stands that day would be the utmost in Premier League entertainment.

While I don’t think it can happen that fast, I do think it might be Mourinho’s most probable landing spot. PSG will be looking for a manager who can elevate them from French giants to world giants and “the Special One” is one of the few managers on the planet with that type of CV.

Perhaps more importantly, he has the name cache to help PSG in the transfer market. The impending departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes that a huge priority for the defending French champions. Adding someone with Mourinho’s reputation might allow them to purchase more world-class players than ever before. That would certainly help them compete at a higher level in the Champions League.

Blanc might hang on a while longer, but when he does get the sack, I think Mourinho will be right there to pick up the pieces at PSG.
