Marc Albrighton-Leicester City

Contrary to the opinion of most of the British media, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy aren’t the only two players that Leicester has who should be attracting interest from bigger clubs. Attacking midfielder Marc Albrighton is someone who should be on top four shopping lists this winter as well.

As I discussed earlier in this piece, United has struggled to find quality wing play this season. Both Juan Mata and Memphis Depay have struggled mightily and wouldn’t seem to fit Mourinho’s taste. On the other hand, Albrighton seems like a perfect Jose player.

While he has been justifiably overshadowed by Mahrez and Vardy this season, he has been excellent in his own right. He is the 5th best rated player by Whoscored.com and he has performed much better than any United winger on the season. It’s not just the level of his play that would attract Mourinho though. He would push for Albrighton because of his terrific defensive contribution for his side. He is exactly the type of two-way player Mourinho values most.

Leicester has said publicly that they won’t deal Vardy or Mahrez in December, but they’ve said nothing of Albrighton. Someone could make a sizable offer for him and steal away one of the Foxes’ best kept secrets. It would be a very Jose Mourinho thing to do.
