5 players Mourinho would try to bring to Manchester United
Graziano Pelle-Southampton
Pelle might not have the star power of Christian Benteke, but he has been more effective than the Belgian hit man. The lure of playing for United might just be enough to make him leave the South Coast.
Purchasing Pelle would also be an attempt to find a striker to play in the Costa role for Mourinho. Pelle doesn’t have the talent of the bullying Costa, but his game is rather similar. He does his best work as an in-the-box striker and doesn’t try to do too much on the pitch.
in fairness, Pelle might be more of Drogba-esque option for Mourinho. He likely wouldn’t displace Martial as a starter, but would be an excellent option off the bench to either replace of play along side the young Frenchman. Having such a talented target man to bring off the bench would be quite the Old Trafford luxury. When you are one of the richest clubs in the world, this is the type of move you can make.
Pelle has expressed his desire to leave English football sooner rather than later but that isn’t something that should concern Mourinho. He wouldn’t be looking to build for the long-haul, he would just be searching for the shortest path to silverware.
