5. Buy Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Liverpool has reportedly been told they’ll need to double their 10 million pound bid for Barcelona backup keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen but it’s likely they can get a deal done for less than 20 million. In fact, I think a bid of around 14 million would be enough to bring Liverpool their potential starter in-goal.

Yes, I’m aware that Simon Mignolet received a contract extension, but I still don’t think he’ll be the long-term answer at Anfield. The team will be looking to improve on the 27-year-old keeper at some point and they might as well move for ter Stegen in January.

More from Liverpool FC

Ter Stegen is thought to be worried about his playing time at Barcelona. Claudio Bravo is entrenched as the first-choice keeper for the Spanish giants which leaves little opportunity for the young German International. If he wants to cement his place for the upcoming Euros, he needs to find a home where he can get consistent playing time.

Klopp can offer him that chance at Liverpool. Even though Mignolet has been better than some Anfield fans would care to admit, he’s still not a star. Ter Stegen, on the other hand, has the potential to become one of the Premier League’s best keepers in time. Look for Klopp to see if he can speed that progression up with a January move to Liverpool.
