5 potential Manchester United deadline day transfers

2. Buy John Stones

Unlike the other deals on this list, I’m not sure that Manchester United can get this deal done. Everton has been adamant that they won’t sell Stones at any price this transfer window and I don’t see any reason not to believe them.

However, Manchester United still should try to move heaven and Earth to get the English defender. Purchasing such a young, high level English talent would be a huge boost to the morale at Old Trafford.

Not to mention the fact that Stones would help solidify what’s already a pretty good defense. He would give the back-four a true leader and perhaps more importantly, would give them a centre back who can really play from the back. That might do wonders for the United attack.

Stones would likely cost a fortune, but money shouldn’t be a real object here for Manchester United. Would it really surprise you if they made a bid of somewhere around 75 million pounds for Stones? Could Everton really say no to that kind of price? I’m not sure. This will be an interesting one to watch as the window comes to an end.
