The summer of 2013 was an emotional time for all Tottenham fans, as we saw Gareth Bale make his move to Real Madrid in a world record deal. What came in the door that summer was a completely different subject, as you all know.
3 years and 3 managers down the line, has Daniel Levy learnt his lesson? I will be counting down the worst and the best of the ‘magnificent’ seven that came in that summer and how Mr. Levy seems to have learnt a valuable lesson. Although the best of the seven is a very short number.
Levy is constantly criticised every year for his poor decisions, but you have to feel sorry for the man because there is always some Tottenham fans that aren’t happy whatever decision he makes. Poor signings, poor managerial decisions have led to ‘LevyOut’ campaigns, however are we now seeing a change in the way he works and what players he signs?
During the transfer window of 2013, Levy, and probably Andre Villas-Boas as well, made some awful signings that lead to another disappointing season. However, this can be seen as a huge learning curve for Levy and he now seems to be pulling Tottenham in the right direction.
So, which players from the ‘magnificent seven’ were a success and which ones were horribly awful, but hugely benefited the club by teaching Levy a lesson? Read on to see the rankings for the seven men signed by Tottenham with the proceeds from Gareth Bale’s sale.
