Saturday April 23rd – Chelsea at Bournemouth

The Cherries landed one of the final blows to Jose Mourinho’s tenure as Chelsea manager when they came to Stamford Bridge on December 5th and won 1-0 on a late Glenn Murray goal. It was a match that was typical of Bournemouth’s fighting spirit and it propelled them to a victory over Manchester United the following week.

Eddie Howe’s men have been one of the surprises of the season and currently sit 15th in the table, five points clear of the relegation zone. This is even more remarkable considering the sheer number of injuries they had had to deal with but things are steadying at Dean Court.

They still have to play some of their relegation rivals in Newcastle United and Aston Villa but come late April a result against Chelsea may be vital to their survival. Newcastle expect to pull themselves out of danger but in doing so may drag down the Cherries who will need an exceptional run of form to keep them in the Premier League.
