9. The passionate fan base

Every Premier League team has passionate fans, but Tottenham might have the best. What’s more important, is the connection between the Spurs fan base and this particular version of their favorite club.

One need only watch the aftermath of the Spurs win over Manchester City to see that bond in action. It was plain to see that the players genuinely wanted to go over and celebrate their victory in front of the away fans.

Even the usually stoic Pochettino showed a great deal of emotion towards the thousands of fans who’d made the trip to the Etihad. When he wasn’t hugging every player and coach who made the trip with him, he was yelling encouragement and thanks to the fans in the stands.

Tottenham really does have a 12th man most match-days. Whether it is an intimidating atmosphere at White Hart Lane or a group of away fans in full voice, that must have an effect on the players. They can draw extra energy from the fans who travel far and wide to support them.

If you aren’t a Tottenham fan you may dismiss this reason as ridiculous, but there’s just something special about the connection between this team and the fans. You’d have to be a Spur to understand I suppose. Just take my word for it.
