8. Youth

Some will tell you that the inexperience of the Tottenham squad is a disadvantage as they chase a Premier League title. I’ll concede that the club doesn’t have the age of their competitors, but sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

Spurs have the youngest side in the Premier League, with an average player age of just as shade under 25-years-old. No manager has put as much faith in bringing youth players into the first team that Pochettino this season.

Everywhere you look on the pitch you see young players taking up huge roles for Tottenham. Dele Alli is just 19 years of age in the midfield. Even a player like Christian Eriksen who many see as an “old head” only turned 24 on the day of his match-winning goal at Manchester City.

The youth has significant impact on Tottenham’s ability to play Pochettino’s pressing style too. A team of older players might hesitate to buy in to his training methods or style of play, but Tottenham’s youth would run through a wall for their manager.

Tottenham’s lack of experience might catch up to them, but I think it’s an advantage on the whole. It allows them to play with more energy and less fear than their title-chasing competitors.
