3. Their counter attacking style

You can’t underestimate the advantage Leicester enjoys by having a different style of play than the rest of the Premier League’s top players. They don’t care at all about winning the possession battle, they only concern themselves with the score.

Whereas their competitors like to play a possession game that wears the opponent down, Ranieri’s club is happy to sit back and soak up pressure. They wait for the perfect moment to pounce and unleash their counter attack on the opposition.

That’s not just a setup that Premier League teams are used to facing every week. The fact that it’s something different, gives Leicester an edge almost every time they step on the field. Their style makes their opponents do something different than normal. That can only help the Foxes.

It’s just like playing a basketball team that runs the Princeton offense. All of those back cuts and motion can throw a defense off their game. Leicester does the same by sitting back and waiting to break out on the counter. The novelty of their system has to be worth a few points for Vardy and company down the stretch.
