2. The fairy tale factor

If you believe in magic and happy endings, then Leicester is the Premier League side for you. If they’re able to finish off their run with a Premier League title it’s certainly going to end up as a movie at some point.

Some will laugh at the thought of fate, fairy tales, or whatever label you want to put on it, but there are some real effects of being everyone’s Cinderella. For one, you get the support of every neutral football fan in the world. If you aren’t a fan of Tottenham, Arsenal or Manchester City, you probably want to see Leicester win out.

The fan support is great, but it can also bleed in to the consciousness of officials and other players. When you’re the crowd favorite, more of those 50/50 decisions seem to go your way. You never know if the Foxes will get an officiating break that makes a gigantic difference down the stretch.

It’s just human nature. When you think something will be a great story, you subconsciously want to see it come true. Whether you’re an opposing player who’s will to win has been ground down or an official faced with a toss-up call, you’ll tend to give Leicester the benefit of the doubt. Winning a Premier League title can come down to the slightest of factors, and the Foxes’ fairy tale could certainly play a role.
