2. The Danny Welbeck boost

I mentioned in the last slide that critics of the Gunners have questions about their striking options. If Danny Welbeck comes back fully fit and finds a patch of good form, those questions could disappear quickly.

While Olivier Giroud has had a terrific season for the Gunners, he doesn’t have the talent or athleticism that Welbeck can bring to Wenger’s front line. An in-form Welbeck starting up top with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez behind him is the stuff of nightmares for Premier League defenders.

No one has ever questioned Welbeck’s talent, they just question his ability to stay fit. He’s had an injury-riddled career, but does appear to be fully fit now. If he can maintain his fitness the boost he provides the Arsenal attack might be enough to push them over the line.

None of Arsenal’s competitors will enjoy the advantage of having such a bright attacking talent coming into their squad for the stretch run. That’s a huge advantage for Wenger and the Gunners. The next several weeks will tell us if Welbeck’s insertion into  the Arsenal mix will pay off with silverware.
