3. John Terry

Gary Cahill wouldn’t be the only centre back headed out the door at Stamford Bridge if Simeone takes over. Club legend John Terry would also see the end of his terrific career with the Blues.

To be fair, Terry already believes that he is playing his last season at Chelsea. He came out earlier this month and announced that the club will not be offering him another one-year-contract. Guus Hiddink and other Chelsea officials have not confirmed that as a final decision, but Terry seems resigned to his fate.

Some Chelsea fans hope that their next manager will offer Terry a lifeline, but I can’t see Simeone being that guy. While Terry’s performance is still good enough to be a part-time contributor in the Premier League, Simeone will be aiming higher. He won’t be tempted to offer Terry a sentimental send-off season.

The Atletico boss will allow Terry to make a move to MLS or perhaps even China. He will want to focus all of his energies on the Chelsea future instead of the club’s past. That means the end of Terry’s long and storied career at Chelsea.
