2. Oscar

Oscar is another player who just doesn’t seem to be a stylistic fit for the way Simeone will want to play. He has some terrific offensive skill, but lacks the physicality to thrive under the Atletico boss.

There’s also the fact that Oscar hasn’t been very good for the Blues this season. He’s only managed to contribute three goals and two assists on the Premier League campaign and just hasn’t looked like a quality player. It’s possible that Simeone could come in and inspire him back into form, but I don’t know that the Brazilian international is worth the trouble.

Oscar would also be an awkward fit in Simeone’s preferred 4-3-3 formation. He isn’t physical enough to play any of the three midfield spots and doesn’t necessarily possess enough pace to play out wide. He’s just a square peg trying to smash his way into a round hole for Simeone.

Chelsea could still manage to sell Oscar for a significant transfer fee. At just 24 years of age he still has the potential to develop his game further. His reputation and marketability also would make him an attractive purchase for a number of teams across Europe. He could also command a gigantic transfer fee from the Chinese Super League if he’d be open to that sort of move. At any rate, he isn’t a player that would thrive under Diego Simeone.
