1. Eden Hazard

On one hand, Hazard is the perfect type of player to thrive offensively as a winger in Simeone’s system. On the other, he might be one of the Premier League’s softest stars and that certainly won’t fly under the tough-minded Atletico boss.

The Belgian international has been the subject of numerous transfer rumors all season long, so him moving on this summer wouldn’t necessarily shock anyone. In particular, Hazard has professed his affection for PSG which has flamed rumors of a move to Ligue 1.

I struggle to envision a scenario where Simeone would want to keep Hazard. As a manager, he is all about toughness and aggression. Hazard is the complete opposite. He’s a complete luxury player whose toughness has been questioned over and over again during his tumultuous season. He and Simeone’s personalities would be like oil and water.

Hazard’s struggles on the year have been well documented and can best be summed up by one statistic. He has scored a grand total of zero Premier League goals. For a player of Hazard’s immense talent, that kind of ineptitude is inexcusable.

Diego Simeone’s arrival at Chelsea would signal the end of Hazard’s run at the club.
