Salah and El Shaarawy created havoc for Madrid all night

It was a good day to be a winger for Roma as they had numerous chances on the offensive end and caused problems for Real Madrid at the back. Both Stephan El Shaarawy and Mohamed Salah were great in the attack with the latter causing the most problems with his pace. El Shaarawy had a golden chance when he was one on one with Keylor Navas but couldn’t finish off the chance as Navas came out and pushed the ball away before the Italian international could get on the ball.  Salah had a golden chance in the 83rd minute when he found himself open inside the Madrid penalty box but his touch failed him in the last moments.

Salah was probably Roma’s most impressive player on the night as he made Marcelo work on the defensive end and caused Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane to make some desperation stops inside the penalty box. His pace was certainly a problem for Madrid but he couldn’t seem to finish off any chances that was given to him. Salah and Roma will be left to rue their misses as they had some great chances to help turn the tie back in their favor. He will certainly be a key player as the tie shifts back to Madrid next month as Roma look to pull off a miracle comeback.
