Real Madrid are most likely advancing from this tie

Roma was still in the game when Jese went on a miracle run and scored in the 85th minute with a great shot that found the bottom corner just inside the left post. It was a goal that all but sealed Roma’s fate. It was two away goals for Real Madrid on the night and Roma will have some work to do coming into the second half. No team has ever advanced after giving up two away goals in the first leg of the Round of 16. Real Madrid haven’t knocked out an Italian team out of the Champions League since 1987 and that is likely to change with this result.

Roma will have a mountain to climb in the second leg as they will have to score at least two goals in the Santiago Bernabéu to even force this tie into extra time. Winning at Real Madrid is no easy task as Real Madrid will launch everything they have to try and finish off this tie as quick as they can. But Roma can take some notes from Serie A rivals Juventus, who were able to get a solid result against Madrid in the semi-finals last year in Madrid with a 1-1 draw.
