Another great performance from the German youngster

It was a fantastic performance by Julian Draxler as he scored a brace to help Wolfsburg gain three away goals in this first leg. The first goal was a fantastic finish as Draxler made a spin off of his defender on the left side of the pitch and turned on the burners. He found Vieirinha in front of him, passed off to the Portugal man, got it back and curled it into the bottom right hand corner of the goal to break the 0-0 deadlock.

It was a wonderful counterattacking goal and showed Wolfsburg’s full danger on the counter. The second goal was even better by Draxler as he got behind the Gent defense a second time and calmly chipped the keeper for his second goal in about nine minutes of game time. Wolfsburg paid big bucks for him to move from Schalke over the summer and he is showing them he was worth every penny.

After losing Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City over the summer, Wolfsburg was looking for a spark player that can help ignite the team offensively. They may have found that player in Draxler as he has taken the Belgians role as focal point of the attack and has done it well. He has four goals and three assists in 18 games for Wolfsburg so far.
