Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho may join forces at Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a big admirer of Jose Mourinho and may follow him to Manchester United
Manchester United fans may have to cope with two of the largest egos in football next season. Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be inclined to join up with manager Jose Mourinho if he is, indeed, the next manager at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic, speaking to the English media after his side’s 2-1 Champions League victory against Chelsea, was quite cryptic about his plans for next season. He would only tell the press that “big things” will happen. Certainly his arrival in the Premier League would qualify.
The PSG striker has long been a fan of The Special One and even remarked that Mourinho should still be Chelsea manager in advance of their Champions League confrontation. It’s clear that he would be open to playing for Mourinho if he ends up in the right job next season.
Of course, rumors tying to Mourinho continue to find their way in the tabloids every day. At this point you have to at least acknowledge that Mourinho succeeding Louis van Gaal at United is a distinct possibility. Perhaps the possibility of combining him with Ibrahimovic will hasten a decision for Ed Woodward and company.
Ibrahimovic’s potential fit at United is quite clear. The club has struggled to settle on a senior striker this year due to Wayne Rooney’s inconsistent form. The other option, Anthony Martial, still lacks a ton of Premier League experience and also is effective playing out wide. That leaves a lot of room for a player like Ibra to walk right into the lineup.
Even at 34 years of age, Ibrahimovic has clearly been PSG’s best player this season. The towering striker has knocked in 21 goals and eight assists in just 20 Ligue 1 appearances. His Whoscored.com rating of 8.15 also leads the club and is, in fact, the best mark in the entire league. Even with a little regression in his game before next season, he’s plenty good enough to help United’s attack.
Given the fact that he will be out of contract at the end of the season, he’d also be a relatively cheap acquisition for the Premier League titans. Sure, he’d require massive wages, but with no transfer fee that shouldn’t matter much to United.

Even as a Tottenham fan I’d like to see Ibra play in the Premier League before he makes his inevitable move to MLS. He is one of the game’s all-time great strikers and it would be fun to see him play his trade in England before he hangs it up. I may just get my wish if he and Jose Mourinho join up at Old Trafford next season.
