5. Money

Let’s not pretend that cash isn’t going to be a factor in Rooney’s decision-making process here. It doesn’t mean it’s the only thing he should look at, but long-term financial stability is a plus for any player. The fact that the CSL is offering him a boatload of cash to make the move has to factor into his decision.

The Mirror are reporting that the CSL are willing to offer Rooney a deal that would guarantee him 75 million pounds if he was willing to commit to three seasons. That comes out to a contract of roughly 500 thousand pounds per week. If that type of money doesn’t grab your attention, you’re crazy.

It’s not as if Rooney isn’t well compensated at United, but they aren’t going to come anywhere near those wages at this point in his career. China is the only place on Earth that’s going to shell out that kind of cash for a 31-year-old striker.

Rooney has a family to think about and while they may not favor a move to China, the money could be too much incentive to turn down. If the United captain is willing to make the move then he will do so, knowing his family never have to worry about money again.

Money isn’t the only reason to move to China, but the huge contract offer he’s receiving has to turn his head and grab his attention.
