7. Jack Butland – Stoke City

Last season Jack Butland wouldn’t have been anywhere near this top ten, but his performances this season have put him up there with the very best in the league. When Asmir Begovic left Stoke in the summer Butland saw his opportunity to make a name for himself in the Premier League, he grabbed his chance with both hands.

His most notable display came at home against Arsenal in a goalless draw where Petr Cech and Butland both gave man of the match performances to keep each other out. Butland has been knocking on the door of the England squad for a couple of years now and he finally seems to have broken into the squad and is even pushing for the number one spot.

After multiple loan moves to Championship clubs and a few games for Great Britain at the Olympics, it seems that Butland is finally living up to his full potential in the Premier League and has now put himself up there with the very best in English football. Stoke as a team are on the up and Butland has been a huge part of that with some very impressive performances, making 88 saves in the league, more than any other keeper. A goalkeeper who I expect to be higher up this ranking in a few years to come.
