10 Best Current Premier League Goalkeepers
By Jake Cole
5. Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea FC
Courtois is unfortunate to be only fifth in the ranking, but after spending a long time this season on the sidelines due to injury his progress has stalled a bit. Courtois spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid and has since become one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. His return to Chelsea saw him replace Petr Cech as Chelsea’s number one and play a huge role in Chelsea winning the title last season.
However, things haven’t gone to plan this season and a poor start to the season from Courtois and the Chelsea team has seen them stay in the bottom half of the table. An injury lay off from Courtois didn’t help them and since then he is yet to be back to his best, with Chelsea still looking shaky and leaking goals.
No doubt that he is a fantastic goalkeeper and still has bags of potential, but it has been a tough and awkward season for Chelsea, who I am sure will be back to their best next year with Courtois being a vital part of that. He has the ability to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Some people are already saying he is the best in the league based on his potential.
