3. David De Gea – Manchester United

David De Gea’s time in England has been a roller-coaster to say the least. When he signed for Manchester United, he was a tall and skinny goalkeeper with a big price tag and big reputation in Spain. United fans assumed he was the one to take over from Edwin Van Der Sar. He had a really poor start to life in the Premier League, whilst showing glimpses of brilliance.

Since his first season he has gone on to become one of the best keepers in the league and the world. A tough time for Manchester United has provided one shining light in De Gea, who has kept them in games and essentially winning them games through world-class saves that some keepers could only dream of making.

He is now making a name for himself for the Spanish national team and attracting interest from Real Madrid, which we all know about after the huge transfer saga last summer. De Gea stayed at United and signed a new deal and could go on to be one of the greatest keepers in the world one day.

Keeping nine clean sheets so far this season, in which has been a difficult one for United, has been a good achievement and this is massively down to his contribution to the team. He had a real shout of being number one on this list but some keepers are just proving too good.
