The Dortmund star revealed that playing for Real Madrid has been his dream since childhood to French news outlet L’equipe. Aubameyang reportedly promised his grandfather that he would play for Los Blancos before his death. The Gabon striker’s form this season certainly makes such a high-profile move possible.
Aubameyang has been knocking in goals during Bundesliga play like it’s going out of style. He’s scored an amazing 20 goals in 20 league appearances and has chipped in a healthy four assists as well. He’s been the most dangerous attacker in the Bundesliga this year for his second-place side.
At first glance, Real Madrid isn’t exactly short on attacking talent. However, the age of Cristiano Ronaldo or the desire of Gareth Bale to head back closer to home could change their minds. For that matter, the Spanish giants have never been afraid to have too much attacking talent, so they might want to move for Aubameyang even in the absence of another move.
At any rate, purchasing Aubameyang would at least open the possibility of a move up for either Bale or Ronaldo. He could slot into any of Real Madrid’s three attacking positions, but would be best deployed on one of the wings. That’s why his transfer to La Liga could make such waves in the Premier League.
Ronaldo has long been rumored with a move back to Manchester United, and at his age this may be the last time he has an opportunity to make such a big-money move. Old Trafford isn’t the only place I could see the Portuguese star calling home if he left Madrid, but it is the most likely. No matter who United’s next manager happens to be, they’d be happy to have a world-class talent like Ronaldo in their starting 11.
Bale, on the other hand, would be a highly ambitious target for Tottenham. He made his name at White Hart Lane and there would be a certain romanticism about seeing him return to his former club as they enter Champions League competition again. The odds on this move are pretty long, but they do get significantly shorter if Aubameyang joins Real Madrid.

Of course the most likely scenario is that Aubameyang stays put along with the two Real Madrid attackers. If the Gabon forward does make his dream move, it could lead to huge Premier League transfers for Tottenham or Manchester United.
