4. Liverpool

Although former Dortmund manager and current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp promised not to raid any of his former Dortmund players to bring to Anfield, he could still be in play for Gundogan.

Reports say that Liverpool are looking to bolster their midfield and a reunion between Klopp and one of his former midfielders could be in the works this summer. Liverpool have apparently made contact with Dortmund over a possible deal this summer.

Bringing Gundogan to Anfield would a solid move for depth in the attacking midfield. With Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino being the only attacking midfielders with captain Jordan Henderson more in a defensive role, adding Gundogan would help the squad. Also consider the fact that Klopp likes to put Firmino in the number nine role as Liverpool have struggled at the striker position.

Gundogan’s versatility could also come into play as he could play in a more defensive role in front of the back four or up top right behind a striker. He could slide next to Henderson or Can or be put up top next to Coutinho or a James Milner. His familiarity with Klopp’s style and tactics would help with his fitness and he would have an easy time fitting into the side.
