With Pep Guardiola coming in next summer to manage Manchester City, the Citizens have reportedly eyed Gundogan as a potential summer target.
It has been a very rough year for Manchester City, they are currently out of form and sit 4th in the Premier League table. One major area of weakness is their midfield. Yaya Toure, who was once the best midfielder in England, has seen his form take a turn for the worst. What makes matters worse is that he has reportedly already clashed with Guardiola before he could even get to Manchester City. With his exit imminent, it seems logical that they are already looking for his replacement.
Manchester City are going to go through an overhaul with many of the current players on the squad likely to leave and it could give Gundogan a chance to fit nicely into the squad. Once again, his versatility will be key but look for him to be in a more defensive role as Manchester City’s defense has been suspect this year and has been a problem in years prior.

Gundogan has also reportedly told the likes of Barcelona and others that he would prefer to sign with Man City. Although Dortmund have denied those claims, the favorites to sign Gundogan are Manchester City.
