If Jose Mourinho takes over at Manchester United, he’s going to be in the market for some striking reinforcements

At this point, Jose Mourinho taking over for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United seems like a foregone conclusion. It’s more a question of when than if. You can bet that Mourinho will be in the market for some striking reinforcements if he ends up at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney is likely to ride off in the sunset sooner rather than later, so there’s at least one striker that will need to be replaced in the near future. There’s still a question of whether or not Anthony Martial is best as a striker or deployed out wide, which means the number nine position could be wide open.

Mourinho is not renowned for his patience when he takes over at a new club. He won’t be inclined to wait on Martial to grow into the role or to promote one of United’s youth products. He will place a big emphasis on bringing in a centre forward who can dominate from the very beginning of his tenure.

That could be a costly proposition for United, but Ed Woodward is rumored to have serious money to spend. Mourinho taking charge could certainly help him part with a significant chunk of the club’s money.

Mourinho would certainly want to add at least one striker, the only question is who he may target. No worries, I’ve got that question answered for you. Read on to discover the top five strikers Jose Mourinho would target at Manchester United.
