3. Edinson Cavani

The idea of Edinson Cavani leaving PSG for Manchester United certainly isn’t new, but the arrival of Jose Mourinho could make it a reality. Cavani is the ideal striker to flourish under the former Chelsea boss.

The rumor mill loves to talk about Cavani leaving PSG for any number of big clubs around the world. Stories alternate between him being desperate to leave and him choosing to commit his future to PSG and fight for his place. When cutting through all the noise, it seems obvious that Cavani has to move away from PSG sooner rather than later.

The imposing Uruguayan hasn’t had his best season for the Ligue 1 champions this year, but he’s still been reasonably effective. He’s scored 14 goals and contributed three assists in all competitions despite being deployed out on the left for a significant portion of his playing time. It’s a reasonable expectation that playing him at his preferred striker position full-time would pay off with a sharp increase in scoring.

He could certainly find a home as a number nine under Mourinho at United. Cavani would be a perfect player to fill the Diego Costa role in Mourinho’s United lineup. He shares many of the talents and physical characteristics with the Chelsea striker, but provides a much more stable and consistent performer up top.

Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United could finally make Edinson Cavani’s rumored move to Old Trafford come true.
