Be pragmatic in Munich, win in Turin

Tuesday’s match will take place in Turin which will give Juventus an opportunity to set the pace in the tie. Bayern have been nearly unbeatable at home this season but have looked vulnerable on the road. An excellent example of this was the 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the Etihad which was followed by a 5-1 drubbing of the Gunners at the Allianz.

It seems simple enough to say that Juve must win at home in order to win the tie but it is vital to their cause. They cannot afford to play out a draw or play for a result in the first leg because the pressure will be on at the Allianz. Juve cannot afford to go to Germany needing a victory to win the tie, they must go there with an advantage to protect.

Juventus boast the best defense in Serie A, having allowed only 15 goals in 26 matches, but they have struggled to score at times in the Champions League. They only scored six goals in the group stages but also conceded three times in six matches. That pace will have to be picked up if they hope to keep pace with the Bayern Munich attack but luckily for them the German defense is vulnerable right now.
