Aston Villa are having a nightmare of a season, but they still have several players that could interest Tottenham

My apologies to Aston Villa fans who are reading this piece, but I think it’s a fair assumption that your club will be headed to the Championship at the conclusion of this season. That doesn’t mean I’m rooting against you, quite honestly, I don’t care who goes down. I’m just acknowledging the fact that the odds are stacked heavily against your Premier League survival.

As such, it stands to reason that quite a few Villa players will be up for sale this summer. In contrast to the Premier League basement dwellers, Tottenham have had an excellent season under Mauricio Pochettino. They should be looking to pick off some of the Villains’ top players come the off-season.

Just because Remi Garde’s club have been shambolic this season, doesn’t mean there isn’t some hidden talent there. Their star players are also going to be available at a steep discount due to their relegation. Given the budget restraints that Tottenham must endure over the next several seasons because of their stadium construction, it’s a good strategy for Spurs to scour the relegated clubs for discounted talent. Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino would do well to run a rule over the Villa roster in search of diamonds in the rough.

The question really isn’t whether or not some of the Villa players will draw interest from Tottenham, instead it’s a matter of Spurs picking the right talents to help them next season. Here are 5 Aston Villa players that should be on Mauricio Pochettino’s shopping list this summer.
