2. Idrissa Gueye

This is the part of the list where I start to see real potential for Spurs interest. Defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye has been Villa’s most consistent player this season and could factor into Pochettino’s defensive midfield immediately if he were to make the move to White Hart Lane.

If you haven’t watched Villa play that often this season, I totally understand, but you’ve missed out on a pretty impressive player. The Senegalese midfielder has managed to stand out in spite of the lack of team success. He’s posted an excellent Whoscored.com player rating of 7.27 in 23 Premier League appearances.

That rating illustrates that he’s plenty good enough to play a role for Spurs, or a number of other Premier League clubs. The only question I have about the combative midfielder is could he adapt to being a part of an excellent team, as opposed to the leader of a poor side. It’s impossible to know that until he’s given an opportunity at a successful club. I, for one, would like to see Tottenham give him that opportunity.

You may not have heard much about Idrissa Gueye this season, but the 26-year-old has been one of the better midfielders in the entire Premier League. He’ll be a hot commodity this summer if Villa suffer relegation.
