1. Jordan Amavi

You can often trace the struggles of a relegated club back to injuries during the season, and Villa can certainly point to Amavi’s ruptured knee ligament as a contributing factor to their struggles. If he comes back healthy, he will be a very sought after player this summers.

It’s not an exaggeration at all to say that the young Frenchman was the club’s best player prior to his injury. The U21 French international led the Villains with a Whoscored.com player rating of 7.48 in 10 Premier League appearances. If he could maintain that level of play for an entire season it would make him one of the EPL’s best left-backs.

It’s not as if Tottenham have a glaring need at left-back with the likes of Danny Rose and Ben Davies at the club, but Amavi has star potential. If he regains full fitness, Tottenham should pursue him with a great deal of aggression. He’s just the kind of player that could grow into a world-class talent under Pochettino.

Before his injury, Amavi was a real two-way threat for Villa. He is certainly not afraid to put in a tough challenge on the defensive end, but he can also carry the ball forward with a surprising amount of skill. Given Pochettino’s dependence on his full-backs to provide width in the attack, Amavi’s talents would be much appreciated at White Hart Lane.

It may seem cruel that Jordan Amavi might leave Aston Villa without really making his mark due to injury, but a club like Tottenham would be wise to snap him up in anticipation of his return to fitness and form.
