4. Manchester City

Pep Guardiola will certainly look to remake the Manchester City squad and acquiring James Rodriguez could help do just that. There’s certainly no question that the Citizens can afford to strike a deal with Real Madrid over the attacking star.

Samir Nasri already appears to be on his way out at the club, and David Silva can’t keep on ticking forever. Combining Rodriguez with a new young core alongside Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne could provide Pep with quite the attacking foundation.

The Colombian international would fit easily into Guardiola’s possession based style of play. He thrives at holding onto the ball and creating chances for his team through incisive passes or strikes from distance. He plays the stylish type of football that the new City manager enjoys.

The only question of his fit would be whether or not he and de Bruyne would duplicate one another’s talents to the detriment of the attack. City might be better served to add another speed merchant to make sure there’s enough width in the attack to open the middle for de Bruyne and striker Sergio Aguero.

You can bet that if Rodriguez hits the open market, City will be a significant factor for his services.
