Tottenham must learn these five valuable lessons or their loss at West Ham will be for nothing

Some Tottenham fans are in a panic after the club’s 1-0 loss at West Ham yesterday. While the result was certainly disappointing given Spurs’ opportunity to climb to the top of the Premier League table, it’s far from fatal. What Tottenham must do in the aftermath of their defeat, is learn from the loss.

In all fairness, West Ham played what could be considered their best game all season. Particularly in the first half, Spurs had no answer for their physicality and sheer will to press forward. Tottenham was able to get a foothold in the match’s second half, but never really looked capable of taking the game by the throat.

Some will point to Tottenham’s mounting injury list as an explanation for their poor play, but manager Mauricio Pochettino won’t allow his side to use that as an excuse. Even without stars Mousa Dembele or Jan Vertonghen, Tottenham have enough quality to compete with anyone in the Premier League.

To make sure the loss has some value, Tottenham must examine their performance and learn from it. In an effort to help Pochettino and his squad, I’ve taken the liberty of listing the five things they must learn from their painful loss to the Hammers. Read on to find out what key lessons Spurs can use to help them push on for a Premier League title.
