1. Christian Eriksen is a world-class star

It was really difficult for any Tottenham attacker to stand out given the side’s struggles against West Ham, but Christian Eriksen managed to do just that. He was certainly the most threatening Spurs attacker on the day and almost managed to earn Tottenham a point on the day.

I must say that I’ve never wavered on Eriksen’s potential, but I saw quite a few Spurs fans question his performance earlier this season. His play as of late should put all of those questions squarely to bed.

Whether he plays through the middle or out wide, he manages to put his stamp on the game. As of late, he’s shown an increasing willingness to take on defenders in addition to his usual world-class passing. The only thing that was missing from his performance against West Ham was one of his trademark finishes.

To his credit, Pochettino has seemed to realize this all season long. He’s played the Danish star through some spotty patches in form and never wavered with his confidence in his talisman. That belief has paid off with Eriksen’s growth into a true world-class performer. If Tottenham is able to complete their march towards a Premier they will owe a lot to Christian Eriksen’s contributions.
