3. Is Ronaldo still on good terms with his teammates?

It was a tough 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid at home, a game where we saw Real Madrid dominate possession and the majority of the chances in this game. But Atletico struck on the counter, like they always do, thanks to Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchmen’s goal helped Atletico walk away with all three points in the Madrid derby. It was especially frustrating for Real as the loss put them 12 points behind leaders Barcelona in the La Liga table, essentially ending the race in La Liga given the Catalans form.

Majority of the Real Madrid and fans were disappointed, especially Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo reportedly said “If they were all at my level, we would be first.” when asked about his teammates performances. For a man to come out and throw his teammates under the bus like that won’t go well in the locker room. Especially after a derby loss.

Now two wins have seemed to calm the storm but Ronaldo shouldn’t get off that easy for those comments. Maybe they were taken out of context but some of his Madrid teammates shouldn’t be happy with him saying that. The team chemistry in Real Madrid is something to watch till the season ends. With them out of the Copa Del Rey, the Champions League seems to be the only trophy Real Madrid can win this year and if they don’t, expect another round of changes.
