2. Diego Costa is not a fraud

No matter what you might have read on PSG’s Twitter feed, Diego Costa is certainly not a fraud. In fact, he might have been the best player on the pitch until he went off with an apparent hamstring injury.

On top of his solid finish to score in the match’s 27th minute, Costa was a handful for PSG defenders the entire time he was on the pitch. He walked the fine line between antagonizing the opposition and putting pressure on them with his creative play on the pitch. For an hour, we saw the best of Costa.

Of course the real challenge is whether or not Costa can perform this way consistently. We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from the striker throughout his career, we’ve just seen too many poor performances to really put total trust in him.

Even so, his Champions League performance proved that when his mind and body are right, he can be one of the most dangerous strikers in the world. No doubt Chelsea’s next manager will hope he can coax the very best out of his enigmatic striker.
