1. Hugo Sanchez

He’s probably the greatest Mexican player to ever come to the MLS. Hugo Sanchez was a prolific scorer who netted goals in the most spectacular of ways. Sanchez played for some of the biggest clubs in the world Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. His play was electrifying with Real scoring 164 goals in 207 matches.

Later in his career Sanchez came back to the Americas and signed with the Dallas Burn in 1996. That was the MLS’ inaugural year. This wasn’t his first stop in the U.S. as Sanchez played for the San Diego Shockers in 1980, he’s one of two international footballers to have played in both the NSAL and MLS in a career.

Hugo’s stay with the MLS side was brief only playing in 20 games, but he did score six goals in that span. Sanchez would make his way back to Mexico to finish his career with Celaya.
