5. Bayern still have trouble at the back

Although they may have won the game, Pep Guardiola has plenty to worry about when it comes to his team. Especially his defense. Bayern’s entire back line looked out of sync and out of form tonight as Juventus sliced them open on a couple of occasions, eventually leading to goals.

The worst on the night was surprisingly David Alaba. The left back, who is usually very stable at the back, was exploited down the wing for Juventus. Both Juan Cuadrado, Alvaro Morata, and Stephan Lichtsteiner all where able to take advantage of Alaba on both of Juve’s goals including the second one where he watched Cuadrado run past him and slip one past Manuel Neuer for the second goal of the game for Juventus. It was a bad night for the Austrian.

Even Manuel Neuer looked out of it tonight as he made some ill-timed passes which thankfully didn’t cost Bayern any goals. Although one of them should have counted but was incorrectly ruled offside. It was a rough night for even the best of the Bayern defense.

But in the end the victory is what everyone will be talking about and not how Bayern looked weak at the back. This will be have to be something Guardiola must fix to prevent problems later down the road.
