4. Paris Saint-Germain

The forgotten men of European football, Paris Saint-Germain are a criminally underrated team. The only French side in the knockout stages altogether, and certainly the only French side that could hold a candle to the best clubs in Europe, Paris’ squad consists of some great players. Built on the Brazilian center-half partnership of David Luiz and Thiago Silva, Paris have a stout defence.

They have already won the league in France, which is quite simply insane, and have two of the best forwards in the world right now. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is rightly maligned for his cocky demeanor on the pitch. However, his consistent performances over the past decade make him one of the great players of a generation stacked with talent. When a player of such quality is partnered with Edinson Cavani, the man who is happy to run the channels, work the defenders and create space for his Swedish partner, then that makes for a potent strike force.

PSG saw off Premier League champions Chelsea in the round of last 16 for the second consecutive season, and while they were expected to win the tie, they still had to get the job done. Lead by Laurent Blanc, and with the league already wrapped up, they can now wholly focus on the Champions League and will be a threat to the rest of the competition still standing. It is perhaps more an indication on the thorough quality of the top three that PSG are only ranked as the fourth best team left in the tournament.
