Manchester United need to upgrade their squad if they are able to secure Champions League football for next season

Manchester United’s hopes for Champions League football were significantly boosted with their huge win over rivals Manchester City this weekend. If they are successful in capturing a place in the Premier League’s top four, they’re going to need to make some roster improvements.

Even in the midst of rampant speculation about Jose Mourinho’s pre-contract agreement with the club, United players went out and scored a massive victory over Manchester City. With the addition of those three points, United sits just one point behind their noisy neighbors for the all important fourth spot in the league table.

If United are able to secure Champions League football next season they’re going to need an infusion of talent. Some of those roster decisions will surely fluctuate based on who patrols the Red Devil sideline next season. Even with that uncertainty, it’s easy to identify five players that must be upgraded if United are going to be a factor in the Champions League.
